Iain Hood

Iain studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama as a junior student, then Napier University and the Royal College of Music where he studied with Marisa Robles and Fiona Hibbert.
Since 1991 Iain has been the resident harpist at the five-star Balmoral Hotel, which was named as AA hotel of the year in 2007. Iain plays in the Palm Court which was voted by the readers of the Independent Newspaper as the top place in the UK to go for afternoon tea in 2009.
Iain has spent the last twenty years playing at special events across Scotland and has been the regular harpist onboard the Royal Yacht Britannia since it opened in Edinburgh in 1998
Iain plays two types of harp, the concert harp and the clarsach/ scottish harp. The concert harp gives a wider range of music, from Mozart to Moonriver, and the clarsach is ideal for that authentic castle wedding.
Iain has a very wide range of music from gaelic love songs to well-known classical favourites like "O mio babbino caro" to cocktail music classics such as "when I fall in love". Iain can also play modern love songs if there is a special piece of music for your special day.
As the resident Harpist at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh Iain has had the privilage of playing for HRH The Prince Of Wales. Below you will find a letter of thanks from HRH Prince Charles
